You've been warned … I'm boring

Me

Haven’t blogged in a few days so figured I might as well.

Pain: I’ve got this kind of sharp pain in my left shoulder blade area. I have no idea why. The only thing I can figure is that I slept weird on it. I woke up this morning, fed the cats and then fell back asleep on the couch. When I got up a little while later to let one of the dogs out, I had the pain. I’ve tried moving around to loosen it up and stretch it out, but it still hurts. Annoying. (The leg pain from weed pulling I mentioned previously did finally go away after about 4-5 days)

Running: I’ve done 3 7-mile runs this week. I plan for atleast that much tomorrow (though I’m hoping I can make myself do an 8 or 9 mile run)  If I manage 9, that would be 30 miles for the week, which would be awesome. But, even if I just do 7, that’s still 28. Not too shabby.

Weight Loss: I’ve been watching my calories and managed to drop down to 110.5 … until yesterday when I ate pizza and a big piece of chocolate cake for dinner. Even the 7 mile run and the hour on the elliptical didn’t stop me from ballooning up. I’m hoping in a day or two it will go back to normal. I’m trying to be better today. I’m so weird about all of this… I get so disappointed in myself if  I gain even though I know if I right myself I’ll lose that. It’s like I can’t ever just be happy with where I’m at. For so long I was a size 10-12 and now I’m a 2 and I should be over the moon about that. And I am happy with it, but it’s like my mind says “Well why aren’t you a size 0?” Horrible, horrible mindset, and one that kind of scares me a little.  At least I realize how screwed up that thinking is…

Sore

I ran 9 miles again today. My legs are killing me. Not from running, but from squatting down for about two hours yesterday pulling the millions of weeds that had accumulated in our backyard. Every time I have to bend down to pick up something, I cry a little inside. And I really need to run again in the morning so I don’t have to run on both Friday & Saturday. I’d like to be able to run tomorrow, then skip Friday and run again on Saturday.  I was able to do the 9 miles this morning with my legs sore, so hopefully I still can. And tomorrow would be a short run day of 5 miles. (BTW, it trips me out to be able to say that 5 miles is my “short” run. My how times have changed…)

I’ve got the exercising thing down pat, but I really need to start counting my calories again so I can drop a few pounds. The weight I am at now is fine, but I just have this unnatural desire to be about 105-106 and I’m …. not that. :) And honestly, I doubt I ever will be that especially with the running because it makes me SO hungry, but I’d like to at least get back down to maybe 110 or so (I’m hovering around 113-114 lately) or in the very least, not continue to gain. I don’t want to continue to creep up until I’m back where I started.

Edge

Switched up the blog look real quick to spotlight my favorite wrestler, Adam Copeland (also known as Edge with the WWE). He was forced to retire from wrestling this past week due to medical issues. He broke his neck in 2003 and had surgery for it and now he’s starting to have numbness and tingling in his hands and arms. Did MRIs and tests and all of that and discovered he has a narrowing of the spine. Basically, doctors told him if he continued to wrestle he could face paralysis or death. Very scary. I hate that he had to retire before he was ready to, but I’m so grateful the issue was discovered before he seriously hurt himself.

WWE has lots of Edge Goodies here: Edge Career Retrospective

One of my fondest memories is of the time I got to do a telephone interview with him back in, I think, 2001, for a couple of articles I was writing for my local newspaper. He was AWESOME and such fun to talk to. I was supposed to interview a different wrestler, but 20 minutes before the interview was to take place, WWE called me and said, “Change of plans, we’re going to have you talk to Edge instead.” If I knew how to do a cartwheel, I totally would have done one across the newsroom. I was totally fangirl squealing in my head. Love him.

I covet this

I covet this

I want this. Like, want it so bad I keep going back and looking at it on Amazon.

It’s for running and tracks distance/pace/calories burned/heart rate/etc.

Right now I’m using the Nike+ Sportband, which is fine, but I still haven’t calibrated it so it’s way off. (Or, I assume it is way off. Who knows anymore) Back when my freebie GPS running apps on my iphone seemed to more or less work, it showed the sportband being off by about .2 per mile. So, if the app said I ran 1 mile, the sportband said I had ran 1.2. And so on and so forth.

And then my running apps stopped working. I have two different ones and I’ve tried to run with both lately and they both are a giant suckfest. I dunno if they just aren’t getting a good GPS signal or what but they have been off. Today I went running with one of the apps and the Sportband had me all the way at 1.6 miles before the app said I had even done 1 mile. Erm, no. I’m slow, but I know I wasn’t running a 13+ minute mile.  At least I hope not.

My iphone is old (3g model) so I’m sure it’s just plain not accurate for this. But the Garmin …. based on the reviews, it’s got super awesome GPS capability and is very accurate. I’d love to have a really accurate way to measure my distance and not have to guestimate. I mean, I guess I could finally get around to calibrating my Sportband (I guess I’d have to measure it with the car or find a pre-measured trail or track), but the sportband doesn’t work via GPS (it’s based off of your stride and steps or whatever) so I gotta assume the Garmin would be more accurate.

They have newer Garmin models but they are EX-PEN-SIVE. ($300+) But this one at amazon is $128. It’s tempting. It’s oh so tempting. But I feel like I shouldn’t spend that money when we probably need it for other more important things and I did just drop $100 on running shoes.

But I want it SO bad. Gah!

I’ll be happy to accept donations. LOL. No, no, I’m kidding. Really.

9 miles

Posted by Administrator on Apr 17, 2011 in Me | 1 comment

I managed a 9 mile run this morning. That’s the longest one I’ve done yet. (My previous best was 8 miles)

I was pretty happy about that.

Sorry, I really don’t have much to blog about. And no one reads this anyway.
